The triangle (or diamond) push-up is fancy variation of the effective exercise that has been shown to be a game-changer when it comes to activating your triceps (the muscles that run along the backs of your arms). The American Council on Exercise tested a bunch of different exercises and found that when it comes to targeting your triceps, the triangle push-up is THE go-to move.

If you’re feeling zero love for push-ups it probably means you should do more of them—sometimes the workout or exercise you hate is the one you need the most! Guess who else hates working her triceps: Ellie Goulding.

  • Start in a high plank.
  • Walk your hands together so that your thumbs and forefingers form a triangle.
  • Bend elbows to lower your torso toward the ground to do a complete push-up.
  • If it’s too tough, lower your knees! Aim to do between 8-12 reps.
